WEDNESDAY - THURSDAY

Sessions: 3 10-week sessions

Description: This two day session is balanced between active group learning and more quiet individual learning.  Lauren works with the students to create a curriculum guided by their interests.  Daily topics include (but are not limited to):  Math, Science, Literature, Spanish, Cultural Studies, Self-Selected Reading, Grammar, Research, Visual Art, Meditation, and History.  At times, students are divided into groups by age to provide appropriate instruction.  The smaller class size allows for Lauren to work individually with students and guide them each to their fullest potential.  Students are encouraged to be creative and to dive into subjects they are passionate about.

FRIDAY
Hours: 10-2
Ages: 6-8
Sessions: 3 10-week sessions
Cost: $25/day
Description: A fun day for ages 6-8 that focuses both on socialization and academics.  Lauren and the students will study subjects such as Math, Culture, Literature, Science, Reading, and Visual Art, with lots of opportunities for hands-on learning.  Using the students' interests as a guide for the day, Lauren provides a balanced day that is slightly shorter and works along with the energy levels of the group.  Students may work as a large group, individually, one-on-one with Lauren, or in small groups to provide a wide array of learning experiences.

Please email LaurenNorster AT gmail DOT com if you are interested in scheduling a day to come visit, parents are welcome to chat with me or another parent on duty, kids are welcome to participate in class. Although we are running a similar program this year, the days are slightly different. If you are interested in the
"Tuesday" described above, that program currently runs on Thursdays. The
"Wed-Thurs." session with Lauren Norster is run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
this year.

Lauren's Bio:
Lauren Norster is a teacher at heart. Over the past 13 years she has taught in a variety of non-traditional and traditional educational settings, with a focus on student-driven learning. She graduated first in her class from Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI with a double major in Elementary Education and Spanish.  Her goal in teaching is to encourage a life-long love of learning in her students. She is experienced with teaching a variety of grade levels and subjects, integrating areas of the curriculum to create a holistic learning experience. As an artist, she uses her creativity to develop lesson plans as well as create new and exciting learning opportunities for students.  Lauren believes in giving each student individual guidance in order to ensure they develop their own interests and feel empowered as learners. She promotes learning through each individual students' curiosity and then uses that ground work as a springboard for other areas of education.  Lauren's style of teaching allows her to go with the flow of the students and provides space for self-selected learning.  Lauren is a teacher because she enjoys learning and sharing ideas with students. She aims to give every child the understanding that they can be learning and having fun at the same time.
